It is supposed to snow today… TODAY! … yes, I know it’s November, but I’m just not ready for it. The Waterloo District School Board is though. They have released info for this school year’s ‘severe weather procedure.’ Basically how they will, and why they will, cancel school or buses. The first thing you should know is that you can listen to DAVE ROCKS and always get up to date cancellation info – we also make sure it’s posted to the home page of this very website. But what causes the cancellation? This is what WRDSB says on their site:
As the cold weather arrives, it’s important for everyone to be familiar with our Severe Weather Conditions procedure.
There are some changes to the procedure for the 2015-16 school year:
- Frigid Temperatures: Schools will NOT automatically be closed when temperatures reach -35C or colder with wind-chill. While buses will not operate, the decision to close schools will depend on weather and road conditions.
- School closures related to transportation – Linwood PS, Floradale PS, and Waterloo-Oxford DSS: These schools will not automatically be closed when transportation is closed in Wellesley, Wilmot, and Woolwich Townships. Decision as to school closures in this area, as in other parts of the board, will depend on weather and road conditions.
