Firefighters put out two small fires that erupted near Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night during Game 2 of the World Series, officials said.
A brush fire burned about two acres of grass in Elysian Park west of the LAPD Academy running track, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Authorities did not order any evacuations and said no structures were threatened.
“Dodger Stadium, the World Series Game and those attending are NOT endangered,” the agency said in an emergency alert.
Air and ground crews extinguished flames in 47 minutes. Authorities were working with stadium staff to minimize the traffic impact for those leaving the game.
Soon after, a second blaze
burned through the upper-floor balcony of a three-story apartment building in Echo Park. About 35 firefighters put out the fire in 20 minutes.
No one was injured in either fire.
