Carter had a dream: Free Wendy’s nuggets for a year. As of yesterday, Carter has achieved that dream. It all began a little over a month ago when Carter Wilkerson sent a Tweet out to Wendy’s asking a simple question, ‘how many retweets for a year of free chicken nuggets?’ The Wendy’s Twitter account, which is hilarious by the way, responded with a lofty requirement, ’18 Million.’

That would usually be where it ends. But Carter is some sort of super hero, and got the attention of some rather famous people. Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul was an early supporter but Ellen Degeneres probably gave Carter the most attention, even having him on her show. So retweet after retweet, and a lot of promoting with the tag #NuggsForCarter, and Carter’s numbers started climbing up and up and up. This week Guinness World Records even recognized Carter’s Tweet as the most reTweeted ever (passing Ellen’s Oscar pic from 2014).

So even though he didn’t make it all the way to 18 million, Wendy’s decided that his over 3.5 million reTweets was enough to get his free nuggets for a year. They also made a $100,000 donation to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in Carter’s name.
