Legendary Battle of the Alamo enthusiast PHIL COLLINS will perform live at the U.S. Open on August 29th. As a singer, of course. (???)
He’s only performing one song, “In the Air Tonight” . . . and it’s part of an opening night ceremony that’s celebrating a new retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium.
It’s unclear whether “In the Air Tonight” was just a coincidental selection, or a cheesy pun . . . but sadly, it’s probably the latter.
In any event, it’s a big deal, because it’s Phil’s first major performance in six years, although he did perform at a fundraiser back in March. He ended his retirement last fall, and has a memoir and a new greatest hits album on the way.
