DAVID LETTERMAN and his AWESOME beard sat down with
TOM BROKAW for an interview that will air Sunday on NBC. Naturally, he was
asked if he misses late-night . . . and he said he doesn’t. At all.
Quote, “It’s interesting. I thought for sure I would. And then, the first day of
Stephen [Colbert’s] show when he went on the air . . . an energy left me and I felt
like, ‘You know, that’s not my problem anymore.'”
He said that it consumed his life so much while he was doing it that it was
detrimental in some ways . . . so he’s happy to be done with it. Quote, “I couldn’t
care less about late-night television.
“I’m happy for the guys . . . men and women . . . there should be more women.”
And then he dropped this bit . . . unprovoked. Quote, “I don’t know why they didn’t
give my show to a woman. That would have been fine.”
He’s talked before about how he thought a woman should’ve been considered . . .
and he’s also repeatedly said that he didn’t have a say in who his replacement was.
But no matter how you cut it, it doesn’t sound like he’s a huge fan of Stephen
