It’s looking more and more like drugs were the cause of PRINCE’s death. The DEA is now involved in the investigation, along with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
All they would say is that they’re going to, quote, “augment this local investigation with federal resources and expertise about prescription drug diversion.”
The announcement came after the “Minneapolis Star Tribune” reported that Prince had begun seeking help for a prescription painkiller addiction.
Representatives for Prince had called addiction specialist Dr. Howard Kornfeld on April 20th, saying he was dealing a “grave medical emergency.”
Kornfeld sent his son Andrew to evaluate Prince’s condition, but when he got there early the next morning, Prince was already dead. In fact, Andrew was one of the people who found his body in the elevator, and he’s the one who made the 911 call.
